Need Help Curing My Porn Addiction …?

I’ve noticed recently that I’ve developed an “addiction” to anime porn. It practically consumes my life. I keep downloading Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z pics and vids, and I keep having to create secret folders on my hard drive in order to hide it from my 6 and 10 year old sons. My wife is fed up with it, and keeps giving me ultimatums, basically our relationship or the Japanese Pictures. I sit during work and space out thinking about dirty Japanese pornography aka hentai. Is it wierd that this turns me on at this age, and do you have any suggestions on how to beat this crippling addiction??

So simple, and yet so trying. Have you ever heard the phrase “Just Say NO!” This is not a joke. I’ve been a mental health and addictions professional for 20+ years, now retired, and I’ve read all the WONDERFUL promises that all these expensive treatment plans and hospital programs put forth, but maybe I read more than they wanted me to. I read the fine print!! And in each and every worthy program, somewhere amidst all their wonderful promises of beating an addiction, whether it be in the middle of their promises or at the end of them, or on a separate page of their fancy brochures, they include the words, “Of course, if the patient chooses not to follow our recommendations (aka: “do what we say”, aka: don’t repeat the addictive behaviors), we cannot guarantee success in our program.” So, what they’re saying, bluntly, is, if you don’t stop doing what you’re addicted to, you’ll never get beyond your addiction. Gee, I heard former First Lady Nancy Reagan get laughed and booed off the stage for pithily interpreting all those words into the most efficient treatment plan ever: “Just Say NO!” Now let me tell you that no matter how you deal with your addiction, just like with any addiction, you will NEVER “get over” your addiction. You will have it “under control”, and the minute you go back to your addictive behaviors you will be, as they say in the trade, suffering relapse. So YOU decide when you’ll undertake a very difficult process of breaking an addiction, no matter which the addiction is: “Just Say NO!” over and over and over and over and over again, and then when you still get “haunted” in the future, you’ll be more capable of dealing with it. Oh, and there has been a program called “Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous” established by The Augustine Fellowship. The last address I had for them was P.O. Box 119, New Town Branch, Boston, Massachusetts 02258. That’s where I ordered a book from them for my clinical practice. That was back in 1988 so I can’t guarantee they’re still at that address, but you can try and they may have an address for some porn addiction treatment program. All good programs use the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous as their core program, but they change the words “alcohol” and “drunkenness” to whatever words are appropriate for the specific addiction being addressed. If you seriously want to get rid of your addiction, Just Say NO, repeatedly, forever, and see if you can adapt the 12 Steps of Alcohol Anonymous to your addiction, and live it thoroughly. You will succeed then.

Although it never achieved the classic status of Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver or the greater critical acclaim of his own Blue Collar, Hardcore remains a vital film from the early career of writer-director Paul Schrader. It’s a solid companion piece to Taxi Driver (and uses much of the same crew, including cinematographer Michael Chapman), with a similar descent-into-hell storyline. Schrader’s st…
